Star Remnant

Supernovas and black holes meet superpowers.

In Detail - Star Collapsed:

Is it possible to hate someone at first sight?

I've been around the power community my entire life. I have a special bond with the famous Blue Star; the combination of Finnley's telekinetic explosions and Nate's shadow manipulation.

You see, I'm their daughter.

Let me rephrase that. I'm their powerless daughter.

On the night of my Trials, I passed every test except the most important one - getting powers from a power source - and now I'm stuck with the constant reminder that I failed to be something great. While my family and friends go out and save others who can't control their powers, I'm left on the sidelines.

Which is why I'm furious when Ryder shows up, claiming he doesn't want those incredible powers he possesses. It sparks some deep fire inside me to think that he's throwing away a gift I so desperately want. No, it really sparked something, and now that anger is getting worse. He might not have a choice about getting involved, because his presence has triggered something in me that I'm not sure is going to end in anything but destruction.

Because what good can come from a stellar collision?

If you loved the Soul trilogy following Finnley, Nate, and Glitch, you'll love the extension of the Blue Star story in the Star trilogy. Not required to read the Soul trilogy to follow this series.

Character Superpowers:

Kiya:  None - Kiya is interesting from the minute we meet her. She doesn’t have powers, which makes her bitter, and that’s only compounded by the fact that she’s Finnley and Nate’s daughter (Soul Series). It also doesn't help that when she went to get her powers, it backfired... massively. So without powers and some past trauma, including actual paralysis, she's become a hardened shell and that's the big asshole personality she shows when we first meet her. When Ryder shows up and doesn’t want his powers, she’s pretty ticked and she isn’t afraid to let him know how much she despises him.

Ryder: Astronomical Manipulation - This one was incredibly fun to write because Ryder has the most unique power I’ve ever created. Astronomical manipulation is a fancy term for creating the Aurora Borealis in the sky, causing meteor showers, and creating a flaming rock in his hand. All of his control goes out the window when there’s a full moon involved, and before you ask, no, he isn’t a werewolf. He’d do anything to get rid of these powers, and that’s not going to go well when he runs into Kiya after nearly bringing a meteor shower down in the middle of a football game.

Isobel: Portal creation - She's the kind of person that will build you up and show you so much love and kindness, but if you cross her, you're on her shit-list... She's protective, beautiful inside and out, and knows how to pack a punch - especially if you hurt her best friend (and ex-girlfriend) Kiya. Isobel’s not afraid to speak the truth, even if it’s not really what you want to hear… because it’s what you need to hear. She has a great dynamic with her twin Declan (twintuition) and it’s really fun to write them together. They obviously get on each other’s nerves, but they very clearly love each other and would do anything to protect the other. (Character feature)

Declan: Invisibility - The tried and true power of invisibility, and while most teenagers would probably use this for spying, Declan really only uses his power to try to sneak up on Kiya (who catches him every damn time). Declan is the ‘smart twin’ when it comes to school, but his real strength comes with how well he works as a team with his twin sister Isobel and best friend Kiya. They are an unstoppable force together, and they’re only just beginning to see their true power as a trio.
