August Monthly Update
Can you believe we’re already in another month? This year seems to be flying by.
How is the weather treating you? This summer has felt quite brutal. I’m not sure if it’s actually hotter or if it’s because I’ve been forced outside to do yard work, but I’m 100% on board with winter coming early (if the weather gods are listening). Cold temps are my favorite.

July Recap:
With the surprise launch of Kindle Vella, there was a bit of scrambling around toward the middle of the month. It led to less words being written, having to drop my podcast, and a lot of… unhappy feelings. Because Amazon didn’t do great at the search feature, tag feature, AND rewarding stories that are updated frequently, the launch of Vella didn’t exactly go perfectly.
Still, I celebrated The Curse of Broken Shadows being in the top 10 of ALL KINDLE VELLA STORIES during the first two weeks, plus the TOP FAVORITE in fantasy, epic fantasy, dark fantasy, enemies to lovers, magic, and sword and sorcery. I’m nearing the end of TCOBS, my epic and dark fantasy. So far, the reviews have been INCREDIBLE and I’m super super grateful to all of you for reading.
It’s definitely a massive story and quite action-packed. I’m exploring a lot of new things with this book, though there are some consistent themes:
stabby women and pretty knives
flirting during fight scenes, because why not
epic magic - fire and shadow and earth and water
a cast of five characters who have some INCREDIBLE dynamics
After this story wraps, I’m back to the Star series plus a prequel story for TCOBS.
