Star Supernova: Playlist
The playlist for Star Supernova is finally here!
For those unfamiliar with my debut Soul Series, it’s a tradition to have an accompanying playlist for these books. While the Star Series doesn’t explicitly mention the songs like the Soul Series does, there’s still a playlist that goes along with the book!
I’m so excited for the release of Supernova (May 21) and I think you guys will really enjoy the powers in this one! It’s explosive and wonderful, just like this awesome playlist. I go into detail for a few of the songs, not all, but you can still add this playlist on Spotify and listen along with each chapter they are related to.
(FYI, there are no spoilers in this blog post unless you consider the feel and tempo of the songs to be spoilers of the flow of the book)
Book theme: Circle With Me - Spiritbox (suggested by a Patreon fan while reading!)
The Inversion - Joywave
I think this song perfectly encapsulates the first chapter. We open from Declan’s perspective and it is quite the adventure as we jump back into the Blue Star world.
Fire - Barns Courtney
Kiya’s first chapter definitely recaps all of the disaster that happened at the end of Star Collapsed. She’s going through some stuff, and this song is definitely part of that feeling.
Million Bucks - Smallpools
Things are bound to start working in favor of our characters, yeah?

This song title applies to the chapter quite literally.

Do You Still Love Me Like You Used To (feat. The Wind and the Wave) - MISSIO // Slow Heart (Smallpools Remix) - TWIN XL
I could not pass up the opportunity to use this Slow Heart remix in this book. If you recall in Star Collapsed, the original song was used when Kiya is showing Ryder his powers can be quite beautiful. The scene at the clearing was one of my favorites to write, and bringing this song back for Supernova was a highlight. There are a few other remixes of the song… maybe I’ll have to build in another scene in the third book to use another!
Wildfire - Against the Current
I love this song and it was one of the first songs I knew would make it into this playlist. I think it’s great that as Kiya continues to be underestimated, she finds a way to fight back. This song might be one of her themes.
Devil - Two Feet
This song definitely ties into chapter 23’s song as well. Kiya is a badass and I love her so much.
Caves - Noah Kahan // Unusual - Mating Ritual
Sometimes, one song doesn’t do the chapter justice. This chapter was a long time coming, but the messages inside are so powerful. It’s something I think many will relate to, but I won’t go into detail because of spoilers. Still, I hope this chapter resonates with many.
Dead Man Walking - City Wolf
Because any time Ryder has to deal with Kiya, this is accurate.

Kings and Queens - The Treble
I knew without a doubt that this would be the last song on the playlist. It’s so powerful and really wraps up the emotions and intense last few chapters of the book! I also think this one perfectly sets up the mood switch as we wait for book 3!
