AUGUST Book Recs

Enjoy this list of some of my recent reads that might be right up your alley! I plan to post several more of these blog posts of 3-5 recs over the next few months, so keep your eye out. And if you want to be notified of the new posts, join my newsletter.

A grumpy hermit and a sunshine optimist meet in an online gaming guild and start a friendship, each believing the other is “old enough to be his grandma” and “wayyyy too young for her”. When they meet in person, it is definitely not what they expected!

Great romance following a 48- and 50-year-old, discovering sexuality, and being “too old for that shit” in general.

A reverse harem fantasy that is definitely not for the faint of heart. This is dark and brutal, and these characters do not reform. They are morally gray at best, and it’s the most delicious kind of action! A badass assassin who already knows how to wield a weapon, with a great twist at the end.

Here’s the thing, I will never stop raving about this queer romance. It’s my favorite romance ever, and likely my favorite book of all time. As someone who hates politics, reading a story about the late discovery bisexual son of the first female president of the US and the prince of England and loving it should already be an indicator of how good it is. There is so much raw emotion, and both of these characters are not only intellectually gifted, they have emotions. They talk to each other. They learn each other. It’s beautiful.

Another romance for your shelves, this is easily the best written of Ali Hazelwood’s books. Topping The Love Hypothesis was no easy feat, but this one is definitely close. The relationship here was beautiful, and I found myself pining after both characters and how lovely they were. There are emotions, and he falls first, and whoaaaaa does he fall hard.

Lest you think my TBR is only romance, I hopped on the bandwagon here with Fourth Wing. It pretty much picks up from the get-go, and you really dive into the world and the characters immediately. It’s the famous enemies to lovers, the main male character is tall/dark/handsome, and there are dragons. it’s a perfect fantasy romance to get you started, but if you’re a seasoned romantic fantasy reader, this takes you back to your roots.
